At Bible Archivist, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.
Information We Collect
- Search queries: When you enter a verse reference, the query is stored in our database to provide recent searches and to improve performance.
- Generated content: Briefing packs (including text and images) may be cached in MongoDB to avoid re‑generating the same results.
- Translation preference: We store your preferred Bible translation in
localStorageso it persists across visits. No cookies are used by default.
How We Use Information
Data is used solely to provide and improve the service. Search history helps populate the "recent" list and allows us to recover old results. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties.
Third‑Party Services
The application depends on several external providers:
- OpenAI: Used to generate historical and cultural context for verses. Please review OpenAI's privacy policy for more details.
- Pollinations.ai: Used to create period‑appropriate imagery. Their service may collect usage data; see their policy.
- MongoDB Atlas: Used for data storage. We do not store personal identifiers.
Cookies and Tracking
In production the site may load Google Analytics (GA4) ifNEXT_PUBLIC_GA_ID is provided. GA collects anonymous usage data such as pageviews and referrers; no personal identifiers are sent. No other tracking cookies are used. Translation preferences are still stored in localStorage and are not considered analytics data.
